Thor 1 x 2 to 1 x 128 Fiber Optic Couplers are designed for efficient passive optical splitting and coupling. These compact LGX and rack mount fiber optic cable splitters and combiners are ideal for various applications, offering a range of configurations to suit your needs.

The fiber optic splitter is a passive device that divides an incoming light beam into multiple beams at specific ratios. Available in configurations such as 1×2, 1×4, 1×8, 1×16, 1×32, and 1×64, these PLC splitters are also offered in 1U rack mount types for enhanced versatility. Additionally, 2×2, 2×4, 2×8, 2×16, 2×32, and 2×64 configurations are available.

These splitters support four common fiber optic connectors: LC, SC, ST, and FC. The LC connector, with its 1.25mm ceramic ferrule, is ideal for high-density applications. The SC connector features a 2.5mm ceramic ferrule and quick snap-in connection. The ST connector uses a bayonet twist-lock with a 2.5mm ferrule, while the FC connector, though less popular, offers a screw-type connection with a 2.5mm ferrule.

When terminating optic fibers, choosing the right polish type is crucial. The connector end face is polished to minimize light back reflection, with options including flat, PC, UPC, and APC polishes. UPC and APC are widely used, with APC polished at an 8-degree angle for better core alignment. Typically, UPC connectors are blue, and APC connectors are green.

Each 1xN Optical Splitter Coupler has a specific insertion loss, which is the loss of signal power from inserting a device in a transmission line or optical fiber, expressed in decibels (dB). Here’s a breakdown of insertion losses for each splitter type:

  • 1×2 Splitter F-PLC-1×2: 4dB
  • 1×4 Splitter F-PLC-1×4: 7.3dB
  • 1×8 Splitter F-PLC-1×8: 10.5dB
  • 1×16 Splitter F-PLC-1×16: 13.8dB
  • 1×32 Splitter F-PLC-1×32: 16.8dB
  • 1×64 Splitter F-PLC-1×64: 20.5dB

These fiber optic splitters ensure high-quality data transfer, making them a reliable choice for your optical networking needs.
