Thor 1 Ch SDI or HDMI HD Encoder – MPEG2/H264

The Thor 1 Ch SDI or HDMI HD Encoder is a versatile MPEG2/H.264 encoder designed for US television standards, offering both ASI and IPTV outputs. It supports closed captioning (SDI only) and Dolby Digital AC3 audio encoding, ensuring efficient production and distribution.

This real-time encoder handles 1 HD-SDI or HDMI input, converting it to MPEG-2 or H.264 on ASI or IP, with closed captioning and AC3 audio. The H-1HD-EMS model is tailored for HD-SDI, while the H-1HD-EMH model is for HDMI, both ideal for IPTV and ASI distribution.

As a companion to the QAM-IP encoder series, this encoder accepts uncompressed HD-SDI or HDMI digital video inputs. It is managed via any modern web browser, allowing independent adjustments for bit rate, codecs, and video quality. With support for MPEG-2 or H.264 codecs and Dolby AC3 audio, the generated TS programs are compatible with most US TVs.

The output stream can be multiplexed into an ASI output MPTS on mirrored BNC terminals, connecting directly to a QAM-IP digital TV channel modulator. This setup allows for additional programs to be added as “virtual” or “sub” channels, appearing as channels like 2.1, 2.2, etc. Each digital channel can support up to 20 programs, depending on resolution and bit rate.

In addition to ASI output, program streams are available as UDP or RTP network video transport streams, compliant with IGMP Multicast UDP MPEG-TS standards, making them easy to integrate into IPTV systems. The streams can be viewed using client applications such as VLC player.

Network management is facilitated through a dedicated NMS Ethernet port, with configuration settings accessible via the front panel LCD and keypad. LEDs provide monitoring and alarm input video detection.
