Thor 8 SDI / HDSDI Over 1 Fiber Optical Transmission Multiplexer

The Thor 8 SDI / HDSDI Over 1 Fiber Optical Transmission Multiplexer is designed to extend HD-SDI or SD-SDI digital video signals over long distances using single-mode fiber optic cable. This advanced kit allows for the transmission of up to eight full-rate HD-SDI digital video signals at 1.5Gbps each over a single fiber strand, reaching distances up to 80km.

Equipped with dual auxiliary ports, this multiplexer provides additional capacity by supporting up to four analog bi-directional audio channels, two full duplex RS-232/422 links, or four contact closure lines per Aux interface. The transmitter inputs are compatible with any serial digital signal up to HD-SDI, including SD-SDI. Utilizing CWDM technology, each of the eight HD-SDI signals is fully isolated, ensuring that each operates independently at a full 1.5 Gbps data rate with embedded audio and ancillary data.

The 8-channel fiber multiplexer platform offers customizable 5-pin Aux port signal options, similar to the two and four-channel units, but with doubled functionality. It provides two independent Aux links that can be tailored for four-channel bi-directional or unidirectional audio, one or two duplex RS-232/422 links, or four line contact closures.

Additional features include locking FC fiber and BNC connectors to prevent accidental disconnection, and link status alarms on both the transmitter and receiver to indicate when the link is not functional. The RS-485 return path allows for serial data transmission from the receiver back to the transmitter for device control.
