The Thor 4GHz Fiber Optic Mini Transmitter/Receiver is a compact solution for RF over fiber transport, designed to handle high-frequency signals up to 4000MHz. Equipped with an SMA 50-ohm electrical interface, the transmitter accepts analog RF signals and outputs them through an optical FC/APC port. The receiver then converts the optical signal back to electrical RF, making it ideal for applications where copper falls short due to distance limitations.
This mini RF over fiber kit supports a frequency range from 100MHz to 4000MHz (4GHz), providing transparent RF fiber links. It’s perfect for various applications, including communications, defense systems, satellite L-band, S-band, GPS, WiMAX, and cellular networks like 3G, 4G, and LTE. The system efficiently connects a Base Station (BS) to one or more Remote Antenna Units (RAU) in a DAS setup.
Operating on a 1310nm base mode, the unit supports distances up to 20km over single-mode fiber, though it does not support multimode fiber. Customized options are available for extended distances or different optical wavelengths. Fiber optics offer numerous advantages, such as simplified network design, easy installation, and immunity to EMI/RFI and lightning.
