Description

The Thor Fiber MDU Satellite over Fiber system, featuring the F-SattGalaxy-TX-5 Optical Transmitter, is designed for efficient signal distribution. This unit offers five independent RF inputs, converting signals from quad or quatro LNBs and terrestrial off-air TV signals into a single unit for transmission over one single-mode fiber. The accompanying Thor Optical MDU Satellite Receiver, F-SattGalaxy-RX, converts the optical signal back to the original four satellite signals and the fifth terrestrial off-air TV signal.

This system supports various off-air TV and radio signals, including ATSC, Analog NTSC, DVB-T, ISDB-T, DVB-C QAM annex A/B, and RF FM Radio, using the fifth RF port for transmission. The L-band over fiber transmitter and receiver feature four ports for RF transmission.

Utilizing a built-in optical Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) system, the transmitter and receiver use multiple lasers to carry signals within one optical fiber. The CWDM multiplexer ensures high-quality transmission across five wavelengths: VL (1510nm), HL (1530nm), VH (1550nm), HH (1570nm), and Ter (1590nm).

The F-SattGalaxy transmitter provides high optical output power, enabling signal distribution to up to 32 optical receivers within a 10-kilometer radius. The exact number of receiving points and maximum transmission range can be calculated using optical power budget methods, which are model-specific for output power.

Both the transmitter and receiver utilize angle polish connector SC/APC to minimize reflections, ensuring a cleaner signal connection. The system supports point-to-point or point-to-multipoint configurations, including 1×4, 1×8, 1×16, and 1×32 setups. This allows RF signals from multiple antennas or LNBs to be sent to the SWiM switch, reducing the need for long coaxial runs, particularly useful when the Dish and SWiM Switch are far apart.

The transmitter features five separate RF inputs with “F type connectors,” each generating the specific voltage needed for satellite LNBs: 13V, 18V, 13V+22Khz, 18V+22Khz, and 0V for standard off-air antennas. Each satellite input supports frequencies from 950MHz to 2150MHz, while the terrestrial CATV ATSC/QAM RF input supports 47-900MHz. The RF input level should be between 65-85 dBµV (5-25 dBmV) or -43.75 dBm to -23.75 dBm at 75Ω.

This solution is ideal for point-to-point transport applications or point-to-multipoint setups up to 1×32, making it perfect for MDU applications. It is compatible with DirectTV or Dish Network over fiber distribution solutions and works with any RF terrestrial antenna and SWiM Switch.
