Thor 1 SDI & HDSDI Over Fiber MINI Extender

Experience seamless video transmission with the Thor 1 SDI & HDSDI Over Fiber MINI Extender. This compact coax-to-fiber converter allows you to transmit multi-rate SD/HD-SDI video at speeds up to 1.485Gb/s over distances up to 80 kilometers using a single strand of single-mode optical fiber.

The F-M1SDI transmitter and receiver kit is perfect for transporting HD-SDI, SD-SDI, or DVB-ASI digital broadcast video signals over fiber cable. It also provides a single channel of RS-485 control data, offering a return path from the receiver back to the transmitter.

This mini HD/SD-SDI Fiber Optic Extender is designed to extend digital video signals over both single-mode and multimode fiber optic cables. While traditional SDI signals are limited to about 100 meters over coaxial cables, the Thor SDI extenders use lasers to transmit data over fiber, extending the range to more than 80 miles.

The TX/RX kit, model F-M1SDI-TX/RX, comes with an ST/PC connector and supports single-mode fiber up to 20 kilometers or 2000 feet over multimode fiber. These rugged and portable converter boxes are easy to use and support SMPTE 424M, 292M, and 259M standards, as well as ASI and MADI audio. With an operating range from 5Mbps to 1.5Gbps, they support most professional digital serial communications.

Designed for versatility, these single-channel SDI fiber links are ideal for a variety of applications, including broadcasting and high-end security systems. The F-M1SDI platform is particularly suited for security applications, where the RS-485 serial data channel can control pan, tilt, and zoom functions at camera mounts, simplifying cabling.

Thor F-M1SDI fiber optic SDI transmitters and receivers feature locking ST fiber connectors and BNC video cables to prevent accidental disconnections. Adapter jumpers are available upon request for different fiber connector types, and options are available for both single-mode and multimode fiber, with various transmitter power options.

Standard units come with ST/PC (UPC) fiber connectors, but we can implement any fiber connector type like ST, SC, FC, or LC to meet your needs.
